The consumption of dairy products sugar, processed foods, margarine, artificial sweeteners, legumes, and sodas is forbidden.

Once you go paleo, you'll have to stop eating junk food and refined sugars. Ice cream, pastries, bread, grains, soft drinks, lentils, beans, trans fats, and low fat dairy products must be avoided. Some versions of the paleo diet allow the consumption of full fat dairy products like cheese and butter. Many so called healthy foods and diet products are highly processed, which is why you should read the label carefully.

The foods allowed on the paleo diet are free from additives and come from local sources. They need to be consumed raw or only lightly cooked. Dieters are encouraged to eat meat and fish, which are excellent sources of protein. Most carbs come from vegetables. Fish and seafood provide the right amounts of monounsaturated and omega-3 fats. These nutrients are also found in walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and natural oils.
